Bright Star Talent are currently recruiting for a Caretaker to join a secondary school in Skelmersdale. This is a full-time, Monday to Friday position, working 8:30am to 4:00pm.
The school is looking for someone who is reliable, practical and hands-on, with a good eye for detail and pride in keeping the school site safe, clean and well maintained.
The Role
The successful candidate will help with the day-to-day running and upkeep of the school site. Responsibilities will include:
* Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs around the school
* Ensuring classrooms, corridors, outdoor areas and communal spaces are safe and well maintained
* Reporting any larger maintenance issues or health and safety concerns
* Assisting with moving furniture, equipment and deliveries when required
* Completing regular checks around the school premises
* Helping to keep the grounds tidy and presentable
* Supporting the school with opening and closing procedures where required
* Ensuring the site remains safe and secure throughout the school day
* Working closely with school staff and contractors when necessary
* Carrying out any other general site duties required by the school
The Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for someone who is dependable, proactive and able to work independently. Previous experience in a caretaker, site assistant, maintenance or similar role would be beneficial, although relevant practical experience will also be considered.
You will need to be comfortable working in a busy secondary school environment and be willing to get involved with a variety of day-to-day tasks.
Requirements:
* Previous caretaker, maintenance or site-based experience is preferred
* Good practical and problem-solving skills
* Reliable and punctual
* Able to work independently and as part of a team
* Good communication skills
* Must have a DBS on the Update Service
* Able to commit to Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:00pm
