An established manufacturing business based in Preston is looking to recruit an Assistant Accountant / Accounts Assistant on a 6-month temporary basis. Operating across the UK, the company manufactures and distributes specialist products and has built a strong reputation within its sector. Due to increased workload, they are seeking additional support within their finance team.
Your new role
Reporting into the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day finance function. This is a varied position that would suit someone with previous accounts experience who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities will include:
Processing purchase ledger invoices and investigating queries
Assisting with sales ledger and credit control activities
Bank reconciliations and cash allocation
Preparing payment runs
Assisting with month-end processes, including journals, accruals and prepayments
Balance sheet reconciliations
Supporting the preparation of management accounts
Maintaining accurate financial records and reports
Liaising with internal departments and external suppliers
Providing general finance and administrative support as requiredWhat you'll need to succeed
Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or Assistant Accountant position
Good understanding of purchase ledger, sales ledger and reconciliations
Experience supporting month-end processes
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and finance systems
Ability to manage priorities and work to deadlines

Competitive salary of £30,000 - £32,000 depending on experience
6-month temporary contract
