SEMH Teaching Assistant

Pay: £110 per day
Contract: Full-time, temporary ongoing

Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
We're working with a supportive school in Blackley looking for a resilient and caring SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team. The role is focused on building positive relationships, supporting behaviour and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
The Role
Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs
Support pupils with behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement
Build strong, trusting relationships and act as a positive role model
Encourage pupils to develop confidence, resilience and independence
Support pupils to access learning and remain engaged in the classroom
Use positive behaviour strategies and consistent boundaries
Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the wider support team
Help maintain a calm, safe and nurturing environment
The Ideal Candidate
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs
Experience in a PRU, alternative provision, SEN school or challenging mainstream setting is desirable
Calm, patient and resilient
Confident managing challenging behaviour
Able to build genuine and positive relationships with young people
Passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to education
A relevant TA qualification is desirable but not essentialInterested?
