Vetro Recruitment is recruiting an SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist SEN base in a welcoming primary school in Cardiff. This role is ideal for a compassionate, consistent Teaching Assistant who enjoys supporting pupils with a range of additional needs and helping them feel safe, understood and ready to learn.

Working as part of the SEN base team and alongside the class teacher and wider school staff, you will support children with complex additional learning needs and, at times, challenging behaviour, using positive relationships and structured routines to help pupils access learning and achieve meaningful progress.

Key Responsibilities

* Deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions tailored to individual targets

* Assist with EHCP/IDP-informed planning and personalised learning activities

* Use consistent behaviour support strategies and de-escalation approaches when required

* Help maintain a calm, structured and nurturing environment

* Track and feedback pupil progress to the SEN base lead and teaching staff

* Work collaboratively with teachers, ALNCo/SENCo and external professionals where appropriate

Requirements

* Proven experience supporting children with SEN/ALN in a school (or specialist) setting

* Confidence supporting challenging behaviour and regulation needs

* Patient, resilient and proactive approach with strong safeguarding awareness

* Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team

* Full-time availability, Monday to Friday

Why apply?

* Competitive daily pay with DOE consideration

* Full-time, consistent hours in a Cardiff primary school

* Rewarding opportunity to support pupils who benefit from specialist provision
