We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join a leading engineering consultancy during a period of increased workload. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled civil engineer to support a range of infrastructure projects, with an initial focus within the Power sector.

The successful candidate will join an established Civil & Structural team and take ownership of defined design packages, delivering high-quality civil engineering solutions with minimal supervision.

Role Overview

As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and delivering civil engineering design work across a variety of projects. You will need to demonstrate strong technical capability and the ability to independently progress design packages from concept through to completion.

The role will involve working across a broad range of civil engineering disciplines, including drainage, earthworks, utilities, levels, ducts, pavements, and wider site/infrastructure coordination.

This role is not solely focused on drainage design. We are looking for a well-rounded civil engineer with experience delivering integrated civil engineering solutions across complex projects.

Key Responsibilities

·Deliver civil engineering design packages independently with minimal supervision.
·Produce and review technical designs across a range of civil disciplines.
·Support the delivery of infrastructure projects, including power-related schemes involving substations, drainage, utilities, hardstanding, and road interfaces.
·Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to wider project delivery.
·Manage design activities, ensuring compliance with technical standards and client requirements.
·Support design development, reviews, and technical discussions with internal and external stakeholders.

Experience Required

The successful candidate will ideally have:

·A relevant Civil Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
·Chartered Engineer status or Incorporated Membership of ICE (Chartered candidates will be prioritised).
·Strong technical knowledge across:
oDrainage design
oEarthworks
oPavement design
oExternal works
oLevels
oUtilities
oDucting and associated infrastructure coordination
·Experience delivering broader civil engineering design packages beyond drainage alone.
·Experience using MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage.
·Experience using Civil 3D.
·Ability to take ownership of design work and deliver packages independently.
Suitable backgrounds may include experience within:
·Power and energy infrastructure
·Highways
·Major infrastructure projects
·Building and development projects

Security Clearance

Initial projects are expected to sit within the Power sector and will require basic clearance. There may also be opportunities to support nuclear and defence projects, where SC clearance will be required. Candidates who are unable to obtain SC clearance may still be considered for Power sector opportunities.

The role does not include direct line management responsibilities, although depending on experience, you may be required to coordinate design activities within project teams.

Application Requirements

Candidates should be able to demonstrate:

·Experience delivering civil engineering design packages across multiple disciplines, including drainage, earthworks, external works, pavement design, levels, utilities, ducts, and wider infrastructure coordination.
·Experience using MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage and Civil 3D.
·Eligibility to obtain Security Clearance (SC).
·Existing right to work in the UK.
