VDI Engineer

Synapri are supporting a Central Government organisation seeking a Senior Platforms Engineer with strong VMware Horizon and Windows Infrastructure experience to support and enhance a large-scale enterprise VDI and EUC environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Support and optimise VMware Horizon environments, including UAG, App Volumes, DEM, Instant Clones, and Connection Servers.

* Manage Windows Server infrastructure and core services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.

* Deliver platform upgrades, migrations, patching, and lifecycle management.

* Automate operational tasks using PowerShell.

* Troubleshoot complex 3rd/4th line infrastructure issues and perform root cause analysis.

* Collaborate with engineering, security, cloud, and project teams to deliver platform improvements.

Essential Skills

* Proven experience as a Senior Platform, Infrastructure, or EUC Engineer.

* Strong hands-on experience with VMware Horizon and VMware vSphere/ESXi.

* Extensive Windows Server administration experience.

* Strong knowledge of Active Directory, PKI, DNS, DHCP, and authentication services.

* Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation skills.

* Experience delivering infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and transformation projects.

* Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

* VMware VCP or Horizon certifications.

* Azure, AWS, or GCP experience.

* Entra ID (Azure AD), MFA, SSO, and Conditional Access knowledge.

* Infrastructure as Code and automation framework experience.
