The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer with an Electrical Bias to join our engineering team, supporting bakery production sites across the North West of England.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on, proactive engineer who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is confident fault-finding across both electrical and mechanical systems.
You will play a key role in keeping production running efficiently, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance while helping to improve equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on bakery production and packaging equipment.
Diagnose and repair electrical faults involving motors, sensors, drives, control panels, relays and automation systems.
Provide mechanical maintenance and breakdown support when required.
Fault-find using electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation.
Maintain and repair equipment including conveyors, mixers, ovens, provers, slicers and packaging machinery.
Carry out effective fault diagnosis to minimise production downtime.
Support continuous improvement projects focused on equipment reliability and reducing recurring breakdowns.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and report recurring equipment issues.
Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with site health & safety and food safety procedures.
Travel between bakery sites across the North West when required.
Skills & Experience
Electrical Engineering qualification such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent.
Proven experience as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer.
Strong electrical fault-finding skills.
Experience with motors, inverters/VSDs, sensors, relays, contactors and control systems.
Basic PLC fault-finding experience is advantageous.
Good mechanical maintenance and fault-finding ability.
Experience working with production and packaging machinery.
Food manufacturing, bakery or FMCG experience is desirable but not essential.
Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and schematics.
A practical, proactive approach to problem-solving.
Ability to work independently across multiple sites.
Full flexibility to travel across the North West.
