Material Planner

Up to £19.50 p/h

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Material Planner to join a leading engineering business in Cheltenham on a contract basis. Due to continued growth and increasing customer demand, the successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring materials are available to support production schedules and fulfil customer delivery requirements. Working closely with Supply Chain, Production, and Programme teams, you will help drive the efficient flow of materials across the business, ensuring operations run smoothly and effectively. This contract is expected to run for an initial 6-month period.

Main Duties: Material Planner

Plan and manage material requirements in line with production schedules and business objectives.
Identify, monitor, and resolve material shortages to minimise disruption to manufacturing operations.
Work collaboratively with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure material availability and timely deliveries.
Investigate supply chain and inventory challenges, carrying out root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
Support bulk material planning activities and the management of end-of-life inventory.
Monitor stock levels and recommend appropriate inventory and safety stock strategies.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, helping to enhance material planning processes and efficiencies.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following: Material Planner

Previous experience within a material planning, supply chain, inventory, or similar planning role, or transferable experience in a related field.
A background in manufacturing, engineering, or another fast-paced production environment.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Excellent problem-solving capabilities and a proactive approach to overcoming challenges.
Confident communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
The ability to work independently while contributing positively within a team environment.
A collaborative mindset and a continuous improvement focus.
If you are currently working as an Inventory Planner, Supply Chain Planner, Demand Planner, Planning Controller, or Material Controller, you may also be well suited to this opportunity.
