Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning?

We are working with a secondary school in Newham that is looking for a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join their pastoral team from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience working with young people who can build strong relationships, manage challenging behaviour and help students develop the confidence and skills they need to succeed.

The Role

Supporting students with behavioural, social and emotional needs
Working 1:1 and in small groups with students who require additional support
Helping students manage their behaviour and emotions
Developing positive and trusting relationships with students
Supporting students to improve their engagement, attendance and attitude towards learning
Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the SEN team
Helping to implement individual behaviour and support plans
De-escalating challenging situations calmly and professionally
Encouraging students to develop independence, resilience and positive behaviour

The Ideal Candidate

Previous experience working with young people, particularly within a school or youth setting
Experience supporting challenging behaviour is highly desirable
Calm, patient and resilient personality
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Confident managing challenging situations
Able to set clear boundaries while remaining supportive and approachable
Passionate about helping young people reach their potential
A team player with a positive and proactive approach
