Job Overview
We are recruiting a Cover Supervisor to support learning across a busy secondary school environment in the Torfaen region. This Cover Supervisor opportunity is ideal for confident, reliable people who can step into the classroom, keep pupils engaged with pre-set work, and maintain a calm, positive learning environment. As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in promoting safeguarding, positive behaviour management, and strong classroom routines. Key Responsibilities
As a Cover Supervisor your daily duties will include:
* Supervising classes in the absence of the usual teacher, delivering pre-prepared lesson plans and set work as directed
* Managing classroom behaviour effectively, using consistent routines to create a safe and productive learning environment
* Supporting day-to-day operations in your role as a Cover Supervisor to ensure high standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance
* Engaging and motivating pupils, adapting your approach across different subjects, year groups, and ability levels
* Supporting learners with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) where required, working in line with school policies and safeguarding procedures
Requirements & Qualifications
To be successful as a Cover Supervisor, you will need:
* A minimum of 3 months’ experience working with or supporting children/young people in an educational, professional, or voluntary setting
* Proven experience working as a Cover Supervisor or in a similar education-focused role such as Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, sports coaching, youth work, mentoring, childcare, or behaviour support
* Strong practical knowledge of safeguarding, behaviour management, and professional standards within a school setting
* Enhanced DBS Check (or willingness to obtain) and Education Workforce Council (EWC) registration (or willingness to register)
