About this job

Junior Project Manager (on site)

Location: Folkestone
Salary: Negotiable
Job Type: Temporary ongoing

The Opportunity

We're working with an established manufacturing business looking for a Junior Project Manager to join its Projects & Facilities team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an engineering, technical or manufacturing background who is keen to develop their project management skills. Working alongside an experienced Engineering Manager, you'll support a variety of site improvement, facilities and capital investment projects, gaining hands-on experience and taking on more responsibility as your confidence and skills grow.

You don't need to be an experienced Project Manager. The business is looking for someone with a practical mindset, good organisational skills and the enthusiasm to learn.

The Role

You'll work closely with the Engineering Manager and wider teams to help coordinate projects, keep activities on track and ensure information is accurate and up to date.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting engineering, facilities and site improvement projects across UK sites, with occasional European projects.
Helping to coordinate project activities, schedules, meetings and updates.
Assisting with project documentation, cost tracking and capital expenditure requests.
Liaising with different departments to understand project requirements and support improvements.
Helping maintain site drawings, technical documents and project records.
Supporting contractor coordination and learning about site safety procedures, risk assessments and permits to work.
Assisting with troubleshooting and identifying practical solutions to problems.
Monitoring progress against agreed timescales and budgets, with guidance from the Engineering Manager.
As you develop your skills and experience, you'll have the opportunity to take on greater responsibility and manage smaller projects of your own.

About You

We're interested in candidates who have a technical or practical background and want to build a career in project management. You might be looking for your first step into project work or be working in an engineering or manufacturing role where you've had some involvement in projects or improvements.

You'll ideally have:

A technical, engineering, manufacturing or similar background, gained through study, an apprenticeship or practical experience.
Good organisational skills and the ability to manage tasks and information accurately.
Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with colleagues across different departments.
A practical, proactive approach to problem-solving.
Basic IT skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
An interest in engineering projects, site improvements and developing project management skills.
A willingness to learn, ask questions and take on new challenges. Why Apply?

This is a great opportunity to build on your existing technical knowledge, learn from an experienced Engineering Manager and develop the skills needed to progress into project management within an established manufacturing environment.
