About this job

SEN Cover Supervisor - Bristol

Lead the classroom. Inspire confidence. Make a difference every day.

Prospero Teaching is looking for enthusiastic, adaptable and resilient SEN Cover Supervisors to work across specialist SEN schools in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with classroom experience, behaviour management skills or a background in SEN education who are looking for a rewarding role where no two days are the same.

Whether you're an experienced Cover Supervisor, a Teaching Assistant ready to take the next step, or someone with a strong background in supporting young people, this could be the perfect opportunity to develop your career in specialist education.

The Role

As an SEN Cover Supervisor, you'll play an important role in maintaining continuity in pupils' education by supervising classes and delivering pre-planned learning activities in the absence of the usual teacher.

You'll work closely with teaching staff and the wider school team to ensure pupils remain engaged, supported and safe throughout the school day. You'll also help maintain routines, promote positive behaviour and adapt your approach to meet individual needs.

Depending on the setting, you may support pupils with:

Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Autism, ADHD and communication difficulties.

Behavioural challenges and emotional regulation.

Learning difficulties and additional educational needs.

Barriers to engagement, attendance and classroom participation.

What We're Looking For

Confidence managing a classroom and maintaining positive behaviour.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Patience, resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

The ability to adapt your approach to different learning and behavioural needs.

A proactive, flexible attitude and a genuine interest in SEN education.

Previous classroom, Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant or relevant youth-support experience is desirable.

Why Work with Prospero Teaching?

Meaningful work: Help pupils stay engaged with learning and achieve their potential.

Varied opportunities: Gain experience across specialist SEN schools in Bristol.

Career progression: Develop your classroom management skills and build experience within specialist education.

Dedicated support: Work with a recruitment consultant who understands SEN settings and can help identify suitable placements.

Ready for Your Next Opportunity?

If you're confident leading a classroom, enjoy working with young people and want a role where your contribution genuinely matters, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today to explore SEN Cover Supervisor opportunities with Prospero Teaching across Bristol and take the next step in your career!
