Rate: £400 - £420 per day
Overview
We are looking for a Mid-Level Java Developer to join a distributed engineering team delivering modern software solutions within a private sector environment. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, comfortable working within a remote-first team, and capable of contributing across the full software development lifecycle.
This role offers the opportunity to work on innovative projects involving APIs, cloud-native applications, containerised deployments, and emerging AI/LLM technologies.
Essential Skills
Strong commercial experience with Java
Experience designing and developing REST APIs
Hands-on experience building or integrating LLM Agents and AI-powered solutions
Solid software engineering fundamentals, including:
Writing automated tests
Debugging and troubleshooting
Logging and monitoring configuration
Code reviews and best practices
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skillsDesirable Skills
Commercial experience with Python
Experience working with Docker and containerised applications
Exposure to cloud-native development practices and CI/CD pipelinesResponsibilities
Develop and maintain scalable Java-based applications and services
Design and implement RESTful APIs
Contribute to the development and integration of LLM-powered solutions and AI agents
Configure and support application logging, monitoring, and observability
Write and maintain automated tests to ensure software quality
Collaborate with developers, architects, and business stakeholders in a distributed team environment
