IT Technician – Secondary School

The Education Network are currently recruiting for an IT Technician to join a mainstream secondary school in Durham. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced IT professional to work within a busy school environment, providing essential technical support to staff and students.
The successful candidate will be a friendly, approachable and technically confident individual who can diagnose and resolve a wide range of IT issues while providing excellent customer service.
The Role
As an IT Technician, you will provide first and second-line technical support across the school, helping to ensure that IT systems, hardware and classroom technology are working effectively.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing technical support to staff and students via the school helpdesk.
Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, printing and network issues.
Installing, configuring and maintaining desktop PCs, laptops, iPads and other devices.
Setting up and maintaining classroom technology, including interactive displays, projectors and AV equipment.
Supporting Microsoft 365 applications and user accounts.
Assisting with software deployment and operating system updates.
Supporting staff with the effective use of classroom technology.
Maintaining accurate inventories of ICT equipment and software licences.
Carrying out repairs and upgrades where appropriate.
Preparing and deploying devices for staff and students.
Coordinating warranty repairs and liaising with external IT suppliers.
Supporting the school's cybersecurity, endpoint security and patch management processes.
Reporting security incidents and following school procedures relating to safeguarding, GDPR and data protection.
About You
We are looking for someone with:
Experience supporting Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365.
Good knowledge of computer hardware, networking and troubleshooting.
Experience working with Active Directory.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
The ability to prioritise workload and work independently.
Experience working within a school or educational environment is desirable.
An understanding of cybersecurity and data protection best practice.
An awareness of safeguarding requirements within schools.
