MMP Consultancy is seeking an experienced Interim Private Sector Building Safety Manager for an initial 6-month contract based in South East London. This role offers a day rate of £450 - £500 via umbrella, depending on experience, and operates on a hybrid basis with 3 days on site and 2 days office-based.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in a major building safety programme, supporting the identification, assessment and remediation of fire and building safety risks across high and medium-rise residential buildings. Working alongside government bodies, enforcement teams, building owners and fire safety professionals, you'll help ensure risks are appropriately managed and residents remain safe.

Responsibilities:

Undertake desktop reviews of high and medium-rise residential buildings.
Develop and deliver risk-based inspection programmes.
Carry out site inspections to assess external wall systems, fire safety arrangements and building ownership information.
Review FRAEWs, Fire Risk Assessments and other technical building safety documentation.
Assess buildings against risk criteria and determine appropriate prioritisation.
Identify unsafe cladding, fire safety concerns and building safety defects.
Prepare recommendations and referrals for enforcement action where required.
Monitor remediation programmes and track progress against identified risks.
Engage with freeholders, managing agents and building owners to obtain technical information.
Liaise with government bodies, fire authorities, housing providers and consultants.
Respond to enquiries from residents, councillors and external stakeholders.
Review information relating to remediation and cladding safety schemes.
Identify buildings that may be missing from existing remediation programmes.
Maintain accurate records, reports, performance data and risk assessments.
Support team performance reporting, operational planning and continuous improvement initiatives.Requirements:

Degree or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying, Building Control, Fire Safety, Construction or a related discipline.
Minimum 5 years' experience within Building Safety, Fire Safety, Building Surveying, Building Control or a similar field.
Experience carrying out site inspections and building safety assessments.
Strong experience reviewing FRAEWs, Fire Risk Assessments and technical compliance reports.
Knowledge of external wall systems, cladding remediation and fire safety risk management.
Experience undertaking HHSRS assessments.
Strong analytical, investigative and report-writing skills.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication abilities.
Experience working with building owners, managing agents, enforcement teams and external partners.
Good IT skills and experience managing technical data and compliance records.
Strong knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022.
Understanding of the Housing Act 2004, Fire Safety Act 2021 and Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
Knowledge of building regulations and fire safety requirements for high-rise residential buildings.This opportunity would suit Building Safety Managers, Senior Building Surveyors, Building Control Surveyors, Fire Safety Surveyors, Fire Engineers, Environmental Health Officers and professionals with experience in cladding remediation, building safety compliance and residential risk assessment
