About this job

Horizon Teachers are working with a primary school in Greenwich, assisting in their search for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a long-term basis. This role involves supporting pupils across mainstream and SEN classes, particularly focusing on pupils with high needs on a 1:1 and group basis, building long-lasting relationships and assisting with all areas of learning throughout the day.
 
What you’ll be doing

Supporting pupils from Reception up to Year 6 on a 1:1 and group basis to help them access learning and feel confident at school.
Working alongside a team of SEN teachers and support staff, adapting activities and resources to suit individual needs.
Supporting pupils with personal care when necessary.
Encouraging independence, social skills and self-esteem.
Building trusting relationships with pupils, staff and families. 
What we’re looking for

Experience supporting primary- or secondary-aged pupils with autism, Down syndrome, complex needs or physical disabilities.
A patient, empathetic and reliable approach to both learning support and personal care.
Someone who is flexible and happy to work across a range of year groups.
Good communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a close-knit team.
A genuine passion for helping children achieve their best every day.
