Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs?
I’m currently working with a welcoming school who are looking for a Specialist Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a great opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys working closely with pupils and wants to play an important part in helping them feel confident, supported and successful at school.
This isn’t just about helping students get through their work. You’ll be someone they can rely on, helping them overcome barriers to learning and celebrating their progress along the way.
About the role
You’ll be working closely with pupils who may have SEND and additional learning needs, providing the individual support they need both inside and outside the classroom.
Your day could involve:
Providing 1:1 and small-group support
Supporting pupils with their learning and development
Helping students stay focused and engaged in lessons
Working with pupils who may have additional behavioural or emotional needs
Adapting activities and resources to suit individual learners
Building positive and trusting relationships with students
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff
Encouraging pupils to become more independent and confident
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is patient, caring and consistent, with a genuine interest in helping young people succeed.
Experience working with SEND is highly desirable, particularly if you have supported pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH or other additional needs.
You’ll ideally have:
Previous experience working in a school or education setting
Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs
A calm and patient approach
Strong communication skills
The ability to build positive relationships with pupils
A willingness to get stuck in and work as part of a team
Most importantly, you need to care about the students you work with. The right person will be someone who gets satisfaction from seeing a pupil who has struggled suddenly have that moment where something clicks.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
