Storage Migration Consultant
Contract: Initial 6 months
Rate: £550 to £600 per day
IR35: Inside IR35
Location: Bank, London
Working Pattern: Hybrid, 2 to 3 days per week onsite
Security Clearance: Active SC preferred, or must be eligible to obtain SC
We are looking for an experienced Storage Migration Consultant to support a large scale enterprise storage transformation and migration programme.
The successful consultant will have strong hands on experience across enterprise storage technologies, particularly Dell EMC Isilon, Pure Storage and Cohesity, with a proven background delivering complex storage migrations within large, secure environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, design and execute enterprise storage migration activities
* Migrate data and workloads between legacy and modern storage platforms
* Support migrations involving Dell EMC Isilon, Pure Storage and Cohesity
* Carry out discovery and assessment of existing storage environments
* Produce detailed migration plans, runbooks and implementation documentation
* Define migration waves, dependencies, risks and rollback procedures
* Perform data validation and integrity checks before and after migrations
* Troubleshoot storage, connectivity, performance and migration issues
* Work closely with infrastructure, server, network, security and application teams
* Support migration cutovers and post migration validation
* Ensure migrations are delivered with minimal disruption to business services
* Provide technical input into storage architecture and migration strategy
* Maintain documentation throughout the migration lifecycle
Essential Experience
* Strong enterprise Storage Migration experience
* Hands on experience with Dell EMC Isilon / PowerScale
* Strong experience with Pure Storage
* Experience working with Cohesity
* Proven experience delivering large scale data and storage migrations
* Strong understanding of NAS and SAN storage environments
* Experience with NFS, SMB/CIFS, Fibre Channel and iSCSI
* Experience planning and executing migration cutovers
* Strong understanding of data replication, backup, recovery and resilience
* Experience troubleshooting performance, capacity and storage infrastructure issues
* Ability to produce technical migration documentation and runbooks
* Experience working within complex enterprise environments

* Dell EMC PowerScale
* Pure FlashArray or FlashBlade
* Cohesity DataProtect
* NetApp or other enterprise storage platforms
* VMware environments
* Backup and recovery technologies
* Data centre migration or transformation programmes
* Automation or scripting experience using PowerShell or Python
* Experience within financial services, government or other highly regulated environments
Security Clearance
Candidates with active SC Clearance are highly desirable.
Candidates without current SC Clearance must be eligible and willing to undergo SC Clearance as part of the engagement
