The Role - SENCO
A welcoming and inclusive mainstream secondary school in the London Borough of Haringey is seeking to appoint a dedicated SENCO to lead and coordinate its SEND provision on a long-term basis starting ASAP.
As the successful SENCO, you will be responsible for overseeing the school's SEND provision and ensuring that students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities receive appropriate support to access the curriculum and make progress.
You will work closely with teaching staff, support staff, students, parents and external professionals to identify students' needs and ensure appropriate strategies and interventions are put in place. You will also support the development and implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), monitor student progress and ensure the school meets its responsibilities in relation to SEND.
You will play a key role in supporting and advising teaching staff, helping to develop inclusive classroom practice and ensuring that students with additional needs are appropriately supported across the school.
The successful candidate will hold the NASENCO qualification or be currently working towards it. Previous experience working within a SEND leadership or coordination role in a secondary school is desirable.
You will need to be organised, proactive and confident working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders. Strong communication skills, a detailed understanding of SEND and a commitment to improving outcomes for students with additional needs are essential.
