Academics Ltd is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support learning across Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2. This is a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring teacher, recent graduate or experienced Teaching Assistant to gain valuable experience within a mainstream primary school and develop their knowledge of the National Curriculum.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the wider school team to support children's learning, development and wellbeing.
You will help create a positive and engaging classroom environment where children feel confident, supported and encouraged to reach their full potential. You will have the opportunity to work across a range of subjects and support pupils with different learning needs, making every day varied and rewarding.
This role would be particularly well suited to someone considering a career in teaching or education, as it provides valuable classroom experience and the opportunity to work alongside experienced education professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Support teachers in delivering engaging and well-planned lessons across the curriculum.
Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils where required.
Support children's learning across core subjects including Maths and English.
Assist with foundation subjects such as Geography, PE and other areas of the curriculum.
Help create a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
Encourage children to develop confidence, independence and a positive attitude towards learning.
Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils and provide appropriate emotional and pastoral support.
Support pupils with a range of additional needs, including ASD, behavioural needs and learning difficulties.
Assist with classroom organisation, preparation and general learning activities.
Work collaboratively with teachers and other members of the school team.
Encourage positive behaviour and support the school's behaviour management strategies.
Contribute to the wider life of the school and promote a safe, welcoming learning environment.
Ensure the safety, welfare and wellbeing of all pupils at all times.
Follow safeguarding procedures and maintain high standards of professional conduct.Key Requirements
A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their education and development.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A caring, patient and enthusiastic approach.
The ability to build positive relationships with children and staff.
Previous experience working with children is desirable but not essential.
Relevant experience could include mentoring, tutoring, coaching, nursery work, childcare or classroom-based support.
Experience supporting children with ASD, behavioural needs or learning difficulties would be highly beneficial.
A willingness to learn and develop within a school environment.
The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
