Primary schools across Southampton are seeking dedicated, enthusiastic, and resilient Teaching Assistants (TA) to join their teams on a part-time basis from September 2026.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality 1:1 and pupils with a range of learning, social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
Assist teachers in delivering engaging, differentiated, and accessible lessons.
Support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including those with additional behavioural and physical support requirements.
Support pupils who may display physical behaviours that challenge, ensuring their safety and the safety of others.
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals to support pupil progress.
Help create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff.
What We're Looking For
Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEND, SEMH, or behavioural needs (preferred).
Team Teach training is highly desirable, although training opportunities may be available for suitable candidates.
Experience working with pupils who display physical behaviours that challenge.
A patient, calm, and adaptable approach to supporting children with diverse needs.
Strong communication, behaviour management, and teamwork skills.
A genuine passion for supporting learning, wellbeing, and personal development.
Availability to work on a part-time basis during school hours.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
