SEN Teaching Assistant - ASD
Location: Southwark, London
Salary: £93 - £105 per day, depending on qualifications and experience.
Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary
Start date: 19/10/2026
Hours: Term time, 8:30am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday.
Help an autistic pupil move through the school day with greater understanding and confidence. Transparency Education is looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant for autism support in Southwark.
You will use the pupil’s interests, communication preferences and agreed strategies to encourage participation. Support may be one-to-one or in a small group, working closely with the class teacher and SENCO.
Responsibilities
• Reinforce instructions using agreed visuals, prompts and practical resources
• Support sensory regulation and prepare pupils for changes in routine
• Encourage communication, choice-making and positive peer interactions
• Help pupils access tasks while developing independence
• Follow support plans and share observations with the class team
Requirements
• Previous experience supporting children with autism
• An understanding of individual communication and sensory needs
• A calm, observant approach and willingness to use consistent strategies
• Clear communication and the ability to work collaboratively
• An enhanced DBS check appropriate to the role, or willingness to complete one.
