The Position - 1:1 Teaching Assistant
A large and highly regarded primary school in Lewisham is seeking a dedicated and resilient 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. You will be working closely with a child in Year 3 who has ASD and ADHD, providing consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day. The child can display verbally and physically challenging behaviour, so the successful 1:1 Teaching Assistant will need to be calm, patient and confident when managing difficult situations. Your role will be to build a positive and trusting relationship with the child, support their emotional regulation and help them engage with learning and classroom routines. You will work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to implement appropriate strategies and ensure the child feels safe, supported and included within the classroom. The role will involve helping the child manage their behaviour, encouraging positive interactions with peers and supporting them to access the curriculum as successfully as possible.
