Workshop Operative
Position 1 Recruitment is currently looking for a reliable and motivated Workshop Operative to join our client’s team in Norwich.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced assembly or workshop professional to join a busy manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will have a practical and methodical approach to their work, good attention to detail and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Position Details
Location: Norwich
Pay Rate: £13.36 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30am – 5:00pm
Flexible Hours: Available
Job Type: Temp-to-Perm or Permanent
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with, or completing, the construction, production and assembly of cases and associated products using a variety of hand and power tools.
You will be required to work in accordance with defined practices, methods and agreed fabrication principles, while maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy and safety.
The role will also involve working closely with colleagues and customers where required to develop effective assembly methods and practical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with or independently complete the construction, production and assembly of cases and associated products.
* Use a variety of hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
* Carry out general assembly and workshop duties.
* Follow defined working practices, methods, fabrication principles and procedures.
* Read and understand engineering drawings and technical specifications.
* Ensure all work is completed accurately and to the required quality standards.
* Assist in developing new assembly methods and practical solutions where required.
* Work closely with colleagues and customers to understand requirements.
* Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.
* Work efficiently to meet production schedules and deadlines.
* Follow all company health and safety procedures.
* Take responsibility for the quality and accuracy of your work.
Experience & Skills Required
The ideal candidate will have:
* Previous assembly experience, particularly within a manufacturing or engineering workshop environment.
* Experience using a variety of hand and power tools.
* Experience carrying out general assembly and workshop duties.
* Ability to read, interpret and understand engineering drawings.
* Good technical aptitude and practical problem-solving ability.
* A methodical and logical approach to work.
* Excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on quality.
* Ability to follow instructions, procedures and agreed working methods.
* Good communication and team-working skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
* A reliable, adaptable and professional approach.
* A willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibility.
* An understanding of basic engineering principles and good working practices.
* Ability to carry out basic calculations relating to material dimensions and specifications.
