Are you an experienced SEN Support Worker, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker or Teaching Assistant looking for a role where you can make a genuine difference?

Engage Education are currently recruiting for an experienced SEN Outreach Support Worker to support young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs across Oldham.

This is a rewarding role supporting pupils who are currently absent or disengaged from school. You will work on a one-to-one basis, meeting young people outside of the traditional school environment and helping them to rebuild confidence, engagement and positive relationships with education.

The Role:

• Provide one-to-one support to young people with SEN and SEMH needs
• Meet pupils within community and other agreed settings
• Support young people who are currently absent or disengaged from education
• Build positive and trusting relationships
• Encourage pupils to re-engage with education and learning
• Support emotional regulation, behaviour and personal development
• Deliver individualised support and interventions
• Help pupils overcome barriers to education
• Work closely with the wider education and support team
• Provide regular feedback on pupil engagement and progress
• Follow safeguarding procedures and maintain professional boundaries

What we're looking for:

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH
• Experience supporting challenging behaviour or complex needs
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• A calm, patient and resilient approach
• Confidence working independently and outside of a traditional school environment
• The ability to engage young people who may be reluctant to access education
• A genuine passion for supporting young people
• Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle – essential

Desirable, but not essential:

• Experience working in SEMH, alternative provision or specialist education
• Experience supporting pupils who are persistently absent or disengaged from school
• Outreach, mentoring, youth work or community-based experience
• Team Teach or other positive behaviour management training
• DBS on the Update Service for Child and Adult Workforce
