About this job

We are seeking a confident and dedicated Primary Cover Supervisor to support teaching and learning across our primary schools. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Cover Supervisor or Unqualified Teacher looking to work in a rewarding and dynamic school environment.

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils' academic, social, and emotional development while working closely with teaching staff. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality learning experiences, leading whole-class lessons in the teacher's absence, and providing targeted intervention support to help pupils achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver planned lessons and supervise whole classes in the absence of the class teacher.
Support teaching and learning across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2.
Provide targeted interventions for individuals and small groups.
Adapt learning activities to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with SEND.
Promote positive behaviour and maintain an engaging classroom environment.
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and senior leaders to support pupil progress.
Assist with assessment, monitoring, and recording of pupil achievement.
Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.

Essential Requirements

Previous experience working as a Cover Supervisor, Unqualified Teacher, or Higher Level Teaching Assistant within a primary school.
Strong classroom management skills and confidence leading whole-class learning.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A good understanding of the primary curriculum.
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
A flexible, proactive, and professional approach.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

Desirable

HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Relevant safeguarding and behaviour management training.
First Aid qualification.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments will be subject to enhanced DBS checks and satisfactory references.

If you have the confidence to lead classes, inspire young learners, and support outstanding teaching and learning, we'd love to hear from you
