Safeguarding Officer
Location: Birmingham, West Midlands
Salary: £125-£145 per day (D.O.E.)
Hours: Part-time - 3 days per week
Working Days: Monday, Friday and one additional day to be agreed by negotiation
Start Date: ASAP
About the School
Our client is a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Birmingham, committed to providing a safe, nurturing and supportive environment where every child can thrive. They are looking to appoint a caring, committed and highly organised Safeguarding Officer to join the school team on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead, senior leadership team, teachers and external agencies to ensure that the welfare and safety of our pupils remains a priority.
The Role
The Safeguarding Officer will support the day-to-day safeguarding and welfare needs of pupils across the school.
Key responsibilities will include:
Supporting the Designated Safeguarding Lead with the effective implementation of the school's safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Maintaining accurate, confidential and up-to-date safeguarding records.
Supporting communication and liaison with parents and carers where appropriate.
Contributing to Early Help processes and other support plans where appropriate.
Attending safeguarding, pastoral and multi-agency meetings as appropriate.
Supporting the school in promoting online safety and awareness of safeguarding risks.
Monitoring agreed safeguarding actions and ensuring appropriate follow-up.
Undertaking other reasonable safeguarding and pupil welfare duties as directed by the DSL or Headteacher.
The Successful Candidate
Our client is looking for someone who:
Has experience of working with children, preferably within a primary school or similar setting.
Has an understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Is confident communicating with parents, staff and external professionals.
Is highly organised and able to maintain accurate records.
Has previous experience working within a primary school.
Previous experience in a safeguarding, pastoral, family support or welfare role.
DSL or Deputy DSL experience.
Relevant safeguarding or child protection training.
Knowledge of Early Help processes.
Experience working with children's social care or other external agencies.
Understanding of attendance, online safety and wider safeguarding issues.
