Academics, an established Education Agency, are acting as an agency and are recruiting an SEN Teaching Assistant to work across supportive mainstream schools throughout Sheffield. This is a temporary, flexible ongoing supply opportunity for an SEN Teaching Assistant with experience supporting pupils with additional needs.
Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire
Contract: Temporary, flexible ongoing supply
Pay: £92.56 - £100 per day (dependent on experience, training, qualifications and client rate available, paid via PAYE - no umbrella company fees, inclusive of holiday pay)
Start Date: ASAP or a start date that works for you
About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with a range of additional needs within mainstream schools across Sheffield. Support may include working on a 1:1 basis, in small groups or alongside the class teacher to help pupils access learning.
The SEN Teaching Assistant role would suit someone who has a good understanding of SEN and is confident adapting their approach to meet individual needs. Experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties or other additional needs would be beneficial.
Key Responsibilities
Support pupils with SEN within mainstream classrooms
Provide 1:1 and small-group support where required
Help pupils access the curriculum and engage with learning
Support pupils' communication, confidence and independence
Encourage positive behaviour using appropriate strategies
Work closely with teachers and other school staff
Adapt support to meet individual pupil needs
Follow safeguarding and school policiesCandidate Requirements
Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN
Experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Teaching Assistant, LSA or similar
Understanding of a range of additional needs
Patient, calm and supportive approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Enhanced DBS Certificate, or willingness to obtain one
