We are currently recruiting an Unqualified Teacher / Vocational Instructor to join an established and inclusive secondary school in Blackpool. Whether your background is in Engineering, Design & Technology, Construction, Performing Arts, Music, or Digital Media, your real-world experience will help inspire pupils, develop their technical skills, and prepare them for post-16 pathways and apprenticeships.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver timetabled, high-energy practical lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

Adapt and implement departmental curriculum plans, ensuring practical workshops and classrooms remain safe, organised, and compliant with health and safety standards.

Motivate and engage students of all abilities, fostering enthusiasm for practical and vocational subjects.

Maintain clear behaviour expectations in line with the school's positive behaviour policy.

Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback on coursework, portfolio work, and practical tasks.

Work collaboratively alongside subject leaders, Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs), and technicians to create an inspiring learning environment.

What We Are Looking For

Subject Expertise: A relevant degree, Level 3+ vocational qualification, or substantial trade/industry experience in a practical or vocational discipline (e.g., Engineering, D&T, Construction, Music, Performing Arts, Hair & Beauty, or Hospitality).

Classroom / Group Experience: Prior experience delivering training, coaching, tutoring, cover supervision, or youth work is highly desirable.

Communication & Presence: Strong interpersonal skills with the confidence to manage a classroom dynamic and command respect.

Passion for Inclusion: A commitment to supporting the educational and personal growth of young people in Blackpool.

Candidate Requirements

Right to work in the UK.

An Enhanced DBS certificate registered with the Update Service (or willingness to apply for a new check).

Full 10-year employment/education history with satisfactory professional references.

Knowledge of standard school safeguarding procedures (Child Protection training provided if necessary).

What the School Offers

A structured, supportive induction program with dedicated mentorship from an experienced Head of Department.

Modern, well-equipped workshops, studios, and specialist equipment.

Access to ongoing continuous professional development (CPD) and potential future routes into formal teacher training (e.g., Assessment Only route to QTS / Apprenticeships).

Convenient Blackpool location with on-site parking and accessible public transport links.

How to Apply

To apply for this Unqualified Teacher / Vocational Instructor role in Blackpool, please submit your up-to-date CV highlighting your subject expertise and any relevant experience working with young people.

Equal Opportunities & Safeguarding Statement:

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
