KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Support

Tradewind Recruitment are looking for a caring, resilient and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a KS1 pupil within a specialist SEN setting in Warrington.

This role would suit somebody with a naturally warm and nurturing approach who is able to build trust gradually and provide consistent support throughout the school day. The pupil can take time to become comfortable with new adults, so patience, reliability and the ability to maintain clear boundaries will be particularly important.

The pupil's timetable is flexible depending on their needs, meaning the role will involve a mixture of classroom support, outdoor learning and sensory-based activities. The pupil can experience periods of dysregulation and may display behaviour that is physically challenging. You will need to remain calm, follow agreed behaviour-support strategies and be comfortable assisting trained colleagues where physical intervention may be required.

The ideal candidate will:

Be warm, patient and nurturing, while remaining consistent with boundaries
Be proactive and willing to get involved across different activities and environments
Be comfortable supporting a pupil who may display challenging behaviour
Have experience within SEN, care, support work or another relevant setting
Be confident working both independently on a 1:1 basis and alongside other members of staff
Be happy working within a specialist SEN school environmentExperience supporting pupils with MLD, SLD, autism or complex needs would be advantageous, as would Team Teach or similar positive handling training, although neither is essential. The school are more interested in finding somebody with the right attitude, resilience and personality who is genuinely committed to supporting the pupil.

This is an excellent opportunity for somebody looking to develop their experience within specialist education and become a consistent, trusted adult for a pupil who benefits from strong relationships and predictable support.
