Prospero Teaching are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Swindon. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience supporting children and young people with SEN, behavioural or additional needs, or for someone with a background in care, support work or youth work looking to develop their career in education.
The successful candidate will provide one-to-one and small-group support, helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and develop their confidence, independence and social skills. You may support pupils with needs including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties and challenging behaviour, so patience, resilience and the ability to build strong relationships are essential.
Key responsibilities:
Providing one-to-one and small-group SEN support
Supporting pupils with their learning and development
Helping pupils manage emotional and behavioural challenges
Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
Adapting activities to meet individual needs
Working closely with teachers and the SEN team
Encouraging confidence, independence and engagement
Creating a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment
Ideal candidate:
Previous SEN experience is highly desirable
Experience with SEMH, Autism, ADHD or behavioural needs is beneficial
Patient, empathetic and resilient
Confident managing challenging situations
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Passionate about supporting children and young people
Relevant qualifications desirable but not essential, depending on experience
