Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a new long-term opportunity within a supportive primary school?
A welcoming primary school in Romford is looking for a confident and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team for an immediate start on a long-term basis.
This is a varied SEN support role working across the school. You will not be allocated exclusively to one child or year group; instead, you will work flexibly with pupils who require additional support across different areas of need.
The Role
Providing targeted support to pupils with a range of SEN needs
Supporting children across different year groups and classes
Working with pupils who have ASD and behavioural needs
Helping pupils to regulate their emotions and manage challenging behaviour
Supporting learning, communication, social development and independence
Working closely with class teachers, the SENCO and wider support staff
Adapting your approach according to individual pupils and their needs
Contributing to a positive, inclusive and nurturing school environment
The Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for someone who:
Has previous experience working within a primary school SEN setting
Has strong, practical experience supporting children with ASD
Has experience managing and responding to challenging behaviour
Is confident working with a range of ages and needs
Can build positive relationships with children who may present with complex needs
Is calm, patient, resilient and consistent in their approach
Can work effectively as part of a wider school team
Is proactive and able to adapt to changing needs throughout the school day
