About this job

TeacherActive seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated  full-time Year 5/6 Class Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in September. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching to a mixed-age Key Stage 2 class, supporting pupils as they prepare for transition to secondary school.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum aligned with the Curriculum for Wales, ensuring all learners are supported to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality lessons across all Areas of Learning and Experience (AoLEs)
Implement the principles of the Curriculum for Wales, including:

Progression-based learning
Cross-curricular delivery
Development of the Four Purposes

Use a range of teaching strategies to engage and motivate learners
Provide appropriate challenge for more able pupils and support for those with ALN
Assessment & Progress

Use formative and summative assessment effectively to inform planning
Track and monitor pupil progress in line with school systems
Provide constructive feedback to pupils to support improvement
Classroom Environment

Establish a positive, inclusive and safe learning environment
Promote high standards of behaviour in line with school policy
Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing and resilience
Develop strong relationships with pupils based on respect and trust
Additional Learning Needs (ALN)

Identify and support pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
Work closely with the ALNCo to implement Individual Development Plans (IDPs)
Differentiate learning effectively to meet diverse needs
Wider School Contribution

Contribute to whole-school initiatives and development priorities
Participate in staff meetings, INSET and professional learning
Engage with parents, carers and the wider community

Person Specification

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Recent experience teaching in Key Stage 2
Strong understanding of the Curriculum for Wales
Excellent classroom management skills
Ability to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
