Position: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant

Contract Type: Full-Time / Permanent (Immediate Start)

Salary: £102.89 - £115.89 per day

Tradewind Recruitment are recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant for an immediate start in Preston. This is to start as soon as possible supporting children and young people with complex needs. Key Roles & Responsibilities

Specialist Pupil Support: Work closely with students presenting with severe, profound, and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) across daily classroom activities and sensory learning.

Personalised Learning Environment: Assist in setting up safe, engaging, and highly adapted learning spaces tailored to individual EHCP requirements.

Communication Support: Utilise specialised communication aids, sensory cues, and alternative interaction strategies to help pupils engage.

Welfare & Personal Care: Support students with pastoral needs, physical mobility, and personal care with dignity and empathy.

Multidisciplinary Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with class teachers, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and nursing staff.

Person Specification & Requirements

Experience: Previous professional background supporting children or adults with SEND, PMLD, complex learning difficulties, or care backgrounds.

Key Attributes: Exceptional patience, emotional resilience, high empathy, and a positive, adaptable attitude.

Compliance: Must hold a current, valid Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or be in a position to process one immediately) and be ready for an immediate start.
