About the role

Hatched Recruitment Group is recruiting on behalf of Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council for a Recreation Assistant to join the Sports Services team at the Dundonald International Ice Bowl. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with the public and thrives in a fast-paced leisure environment.

As a Recreation Assistant, you'll play a key role in delivering excellent customer service while helping maintain clean, safe, and welcoming facilities. Duties are varied and will include ice stewarding, skate grinding, bowling customer service, and Indiana Land duties.

What you'll be doing

Assisting with the delivery of the centre programme, including ice stewarding, skate grinding, bowling and Indiana Land duties
Helping to ensure compliance with health & safety legislation and Council policies, reporting any risks or defects
Completing accurate records such as cleaning checks and accident/incident reports
Safely setting up and dismantling sports/activity equipment
Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping throughout the facility
Supervising customers to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience
Assisting with induction of new staff and work placement students
Responding to accidents and administering First Aid where required
Covering reception, control clerk, and caravan park warden duties as needed

What we're looking for

At least 1 year's experience working in a wet or dry leisure facility (e.g. leisure centre, sports pitches, private fitness club)
Previous experience dealing with members of the public
Experience recording and maintaining information
Awareness of Child Protection and Vulnerable Adult issues
Willingness to work unsociable hours on a rota basis, including additional hours as required

Desirable

Previous experience within the Leisure Industry
Experience with IT-based systems
Current First Aid at Work certificate
Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements specific to the leisure industry
