Hours: Two positions available - 37 hours/week (East Belfast) and 24 hours/week (West Belfast)

About the Role

We are recruiting on behalf of Belfast City Council for Assistant Community Development Officers to join the Community Services team within the City and Neighbourhood Services Department. We currently have two temporary positions available across Belfast - one full-time role based at Linenhall Street (East) and one part-time role based at Disraeli Street (West). This is a great opportunity to support community development programmes, working closely with local groups, volunteers, and statutory and voluntary agencies.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Community Development Officer in delivering community support plans and corporate objectives
Research and identify local community needs and help initiate groups and projects
Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers
Assist in developing community centre programmes reflecting local needs
Provide administrative support to centre committees, including reports
Support special programmes and events, including cash handling where required
Deliver training to community groups using best practice
Build and maintain relationships with statutory and voluntary partners
Identify funding sources and support groups with funding applications

Essential Criteria

At least 1 year's relevant experience organising and developing community development activities
At least 1 year's relevant experience supporting and supervising volunteers
Strong customer care, communication, and IT skills
Ability to work well within a team and with diverse external organisationsRequirements

Must be eligible to work in the UK
Enhanced Access NI check required

Additional Information

East Belfast role (37 hrs/week): hours discussed with line manager on starting; full flexibility within the service required
West Belfast role (24 hrs/week): shift pattern may vary
