We’re currently recruiting for an experienced Senior C&I Engineer to support a long-standing programme of work within the downstream Oil & Gas sector.

The role will involve delivering Instrumentation and Control engineering activities across the full project lifecycle, from conceptual studies and FEED through to detailed design and start-up. You’ll work across a range of medium to large capital projects, supporting both project delivery and proposals within an established EPC environment.

The Role
As a Senior C&I Engineer, you’ll be responsible for developing and delivering Instrument Engineering solutions across a variety of projects. You’ll also act as a key discipline interface, working closely with other engineering disciplines, clients, project management and suppliers.

Key responsibilities will include:

Developing Instrumentation and Control engineering deliverables throughout Concept, Basic Design, FEED and Detailed Design phases.
Providing C&I engineering input across medium and large capital projects through to start-up.
Leading C&I discipline interfaces with other engineering disciplines.
Liaising directly with Client Engineers, Project Managers and other key stakeholders.
Producing and reviewing instrumentation specifications, datasheets and engineering documentation.
Specification, technical bid analysis and requisitioning of field instrumentation and analysers.
Specification and application of DCS, PLC and SIS systems, including consideration of the full system lifecycle.
Supporting the specification and implementation of hazardous area instrumentation in accordance with ATEX requirements.
Developing and reviewing P&IDs.
Sizing flow measurement devices, control valves and relief devices.
Providing C&I input to mechanical packages.
Supporting equipment specification and supplier compliance activities.
Carrying out site surveys where required.
Ensuring designs meet appropriate safety, constructability and company standards.
Supporting project budget, schedule monitoring and reporting.
Applying appropriate electrical protection methodologies.
Working effectively within global integrated engineering and delivery teams.About You
The successful candidate will have significant experience in Instrumentation and Control Engineering within the Chemical, Petrochemical or Oil & Gas sectors, ideally with a background in refinery projects.

You should have:

Proven experience in Instrument Engineering Design on medium to large capital projects.
Experience delivering projects from concept through to start-up.
Strong experience within an EPC or engineering contracting environment.
Extensive downstream Oil & Gas experience; refinery experience is highly desirable.
Proven experience working on UK projects using UK engineering standards.
Strong knowledge of instrumentation, control systems and associated engineering deliverables.
Experience with DCS, PLC and SIS systems across their lifecycle.
Knowledge of hazardous area instrumentation and ATEX requirements.
Experience with P&IDs, control valves, flow devices and relief devices.
Experience in equipment specification, technical bid evaluation and supplier management.
A good understanding of design safety and constructability.
Strong communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with clients and project management.
The ability to work effectively across multiple disciplines and within global delivery teams.
A proactive approach to engineering, with the ability to identify opportunities for improved or innovative solutions.TÜV Functional Safety Engineer (FS Eng) qualification or equivalent would be advantageous.
