TeacherActive is proud to be working with an Outstanding OFSTED-rated school in Derby, who are looking to appoint a SEND Teaching Assistant. The school provides a supportive and positive environment where pupils are encouraged to develop academically, socially and emotionally.
The school is looking to take on a full-time SEND Teaching Assistant on a long-term basis from ASAP until July 2027, working Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 3:30pm. The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will provide 1:1 support to a Key Stage 1 / KS1 child with autism / ASD who is non-verbal, helping them access learning, communicate their needs and engage successfully throughout the school day.
The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will have:
• Experience supporting children with autism / ASD
• Experience providing 1:1 support within an education setting
• Confidence supporting non-verbal pupils with their communication and engagement
• A patient, calm and nurturing approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• The ability to adapt support to meet the individual needs of the child
