Housing Officer

Location: West Midlands
Salary: £20-£24 per hour
Job Type: Contract
Contract Length: 6 Months
Start Date: ASAP

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for experienced Housing Officers on behalf of a Local Authority in the West Midlands.

This is an exciting opportunity to support a large-scale tenancy audit and property inspection programme, helping to ensure housing stock is accurately recorded, occupied appropriately, and compliant with health and safety requirements.

The role is predominantly field-based and requires candidates who are comfortable managing their own patch, engaging with tenants, and working to demanding inspection targets.

Key Responsibilities

* Carry out tenancy audits and property inspections across an allocated area.

* Verify occupancy and investigate cases of suspected abandonment, subletting, or unauthorised occupation.

* Conduct health and safety assessments within residential properties.

* Identify and escalate tenancy management, safeguarding, and property-related concerns.

* Maintain accurate records, case notes, and inspection reports.

* Build positive relationships with tenants and provide a professional housing management service.

* Support wider housing management and compliance objectives.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you will have:

* Previous experience working as a Housing Officer, Neighbourhood Officer, Tenancy Officer, or within a similar housing management role.

* Experience carrying out home visits, tenancy audits, and property inspections.

* Strong communication and customer service skills.

* The ability to work independently and manage a high-volume caseload.

* Good organisational and report-writing skills.

Essential Requirement

Enhanced DBS Certificate

A valid Enhanced DBS is an essential requirement for this position.

Due to the nature of the work, candidates must already hold a current Enhanced DBS certificate or be able to provide a recent Enhanced DBS immediately.

Unfortunately, candidates who cannot provide an Enhanced DBS will not be considered.

If you have experience within social housing and meet the Enhanced DBS requirement, please apply today with your up-to-date CV for immediate consideration
