SEN Tutor

Provide Personalised Support That Changes Lives

We're looking for an experienced and compassionate SEN Tutor to support children and young people across the BCP area through tailored 1:1 tuition.

Working on behalf of Local Authorities, you'll support learners who require alternative educational provision due to SEND, anxiety, school avoidance, EHCPs, or other barriers to education. Many of the students we work with benefit from a flexible, relationship-based approach that focuses on building confidence, encouraging engagement, and supporting long-term progress.

This role is ideal for tutors who understand that every learner is different and are committed to adapting their approach to meet individual needs.

Location: BCP
Start Date: September
Hours: Flexible
Pay Rate: £25-£30 per hour
Type: 1:1 Tuition

Requirements

Minimum 6 months' experience in an educational setting, including tutoring, teaching, teaching assistant, learning support, mentoring, or similar roles
Experience supporting children and young people with SEND
Understanding of EHCPs and personalised learning approaches
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Patient, adaptable, and resilient approach
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
Driver preferred; alternatively, willingness to travel locally across the BCP area

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
ADHD
Anxiety and school avoidance
EHCPs and additional educational needs
Experiences of trauma or disrupted educationA trauma-informed approach is highly valued, with an emphasis on creating safe, consistent learning environments that help students develop trust, confidence, and positive engagement with education.
