Tennial Personnel are currently recruiting for a reliable and enthusiastic Cook/Chef to join a friendly village pub just outside of Stowmarket on a part-time, temporary to permanent basis after a successful 12 week working period.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced cook who takes pride in preparing fresh, wholesome pub food and would enjoy working in a welcoming, community-focused environment.

The role offers around 25 hours per week, with flexibility around working arrangements.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, including:

Ordering, preparing and cooking fresh, quality pub meals.
Managing food preparation, kitchen hygiene and food safety compliance.
Supervising sessional kitchen staff and working positively alongside volunteers.
Maintaining clean and organised preparation areas.
Managing washing-up and general kitchen duties during quieter periods.
Running kitchen service independently during off-peak periods.
Clearing down and cleaning the kitchen following service.
Bringing new ideas and creativity to the menu and overall food offering.

Working Hours:

The pub is closed on Monday and Tuesday, with working hours across Wednesday to Sunday.

Typical service times include:

Wednesday – Saturday: Lunch 12:00pm–2:00pm and evening service 6:00pm–8:00pm.
Sunday: Breakfast 10:00am–11:30am and lunch 12:00pm–2:00pm.

The position is around 25 hours per week, with flexibility available for the right candidate.

Skills Required

Previous experience working in a busy kitchen environment.
Ability to prepare and cook a range of traditional pub-style meals.
Good organisational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and manage kitchen service effectively.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality.
Positive and reliable approach to work.
Ability to work well with staff, volunteers and members of the local community.
Ability to develop new menu ideas and contribute creatively to the food offering.

Qualifications Required
Willingness to obtain a relevant Food Hygiene qualification if not already held.
