The local authority client is seeking an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer to join their housing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a housing professional with a strong background in private sector housing, HMO licensing, and housing enforcement.
The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating housing and public health complaints, carrying out property inspections, and assessing housing conditions using the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS). You will also support enforcement and compliance activities, assist with HMO licensing processes, and help ensure properties meet required housing standards.
Working closely with landlords, tenants, and other stakeholders, you will play a key role in improving housing conditions and delivering positive outcomes for residents. Experience preparing schedules of repair and improvement works, undertaking inspections, and applying housing legislation is highly desirable.
Candidates should hold a relevant Environmental Health qualification or possess significant experience in a similar role. HHSRS training is essential, alongside strong knowledge of private sector housing legislation and HMO licensing requirements.
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are required. The position operates on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of 40% office attendance and regular site visits as required.

The Oyster Partnership Ltd. is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all candidates regardless of age, disability, gender, gender reassignment, marital or civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.

All applicants must have the right to work in the UK. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role. Proof of eligibility will be requested before any offer is confirmed.

By applying, you consent to processing your personal data in accordance with UK GDPR and our Privacy Policy, for the purposes of this recruitment process only. Your data will be held securely and not shared with third parties without consent
