HMRC to host 2019 Loan Charge webinar

Much as the private sector has done since Budget 2018 forged ahead with IR35 reform for 2020, HMRC is putting on a webinar for contractors facing the 2019 Loan Charge (LC).

Scheduled for Wednesday November 21st, the midday webinar will see tax officials outline how they expect the LC to affect contractors who have used a scheme but intend not to settle.

It will also demystify the HMRC settlement process more generally, for contractors who have been paid in loans with the effect of reducing their tax bill, the webinar blurb says.

Participants need only give a name and email address to join what will also serve as a 60-minute overview of disguised remuneration, possibly with time to ask HMRC questions.

“We have a webinar coming up on the loan charge… a controversial topic”, acknowledged a spokesman for HMRC, who said that “many” ContractorUK readers stood to be affected.

Addressing them, the spokesman said: “If you want to find out more about the settlement process for individuals or how the loan charge might affect you, then join us by signing up”.
