About this contract

Earn £110 to £130 per day as a Behaviour Mentor (around £16 to £19 an hour), working school hours with weekends and school holidays free. If you're calm under pressure and can connect with young people others find hard to reach, this alternative provision needs you.

Principal Education is recruiting a Behaviour Mentor on behalf of an alternative provision school in St John's Wood, starting from Monday 2 November. This is a full time Behaviour Mentor role, Monday to Friday, [hours], term time only, paying £110 to £130 per day depending on experience.

As a Behaviour Mentor, you'll support young people with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), many of whom have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion. You'll work 1:1 and in small groups, building the trust that helps them regulate, re engage with learning and make better choices.

You won't be doing it alone. As a Behaviour Mentor, you'll be part of a close team that works together on every young person's plan, so you're supported in the moments that matter most.

This Behaviour Mentor role is ideal if you've worked as a Learning Mentor, SEMH Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker or Residential Support Worker. Sports coaches who are confident with challenging behaviour are also encouraged to apply.

Your duties as a Behaviour Mentor will include:

Supporting young people 1:1 and in small groups
Using calm de escalation to keep everyone safe
Following behaviour plans and EHCP targets with the team
Helping young people reintegrate into learning and, where possible, mainstream school
To be considered for this Behaviour Mentor role, you'll need:

Experience supporting young people with SEMH or challenging behaviour
A calm approach, with firm boundaries and real warmth
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply
Team Teach, PRICE or similar positive handling training is a bonus.
