Assistant Project Manager

Join a team delivering major transport and infrastructure programmes, helping turn ambitious plans into projects that make a real difference to local communities. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to initiatives that support sustainable travel, improve connectivity and deliver long-term benefits.

Working alongside Project Managers, local authorities and senior stakeholders, you'll play a key role in coordinating programme activities, managing funding agreements and ensuring effective governance, reporting and financial oversight across multiple workstreams.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate business cases, grant funding agreements and change requests, ensuring progress aligns with governance requirements and approval deadlines.
Support programme reporting, including Department for Transport returns, DSO/IP/IB reports, milestone trackers and business case monitoring.
Liaise with local authorities, Finance, Legal and senior stakeholders to progress approvals, resolve issues and strengthen collaborative relationships.
Monitor project budgets, expenditure, purchase orders, invoices and committed spend, maintaining accurate financial and programme records.
Organise meetings, track actions, support procurement activities and assist with governance processes, project assurance and programme administration.
Key Requirements:

Experience in project coordination, project administration or assistant project management, ideally within transport, infrastructure or public sector programmes.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, deadlines, trackers and competing priorities.
Experience supporting business cases, funding agreements, governance approvals, change control or programme reporting.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to build effective relationships with local authorities and internal teams.
Strong attention to detail and financial awareness, with the ability to maintain accurate records, monitor expenditure and produce clear reports.
