The Role

We are looking for an experienced Aircraft Fitter or Aircraft Sheet Metal Worker (SMW) to support base maintenance and structural repair activities on a fixed-wing aircraft fleet.

Based at Bournemouth International Airport, the role offers a good mix of hangar-based and line maintenance work. You will work alongside other fitters on commercial aircraft including larger business jets and regional jets.

Travel will be minimal.

Key Responsibilities

*

Carry out structural repairs and aircraft fitting work.

*

Support base maintenance and line maintenance activities as required.

*

Complete aircraft servicing and inspections.

*

Carry out modifications and defect rectification.

*

Follow all applicable Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) standards.

*

Identify and apply the correct safe systems of work for each task.

*

Follow risk assessments and implement the required safety measures.

*

Maintain control of materials and company equipment provided for each task.

*

Keep the working area clean and tidy.

*

Ensure base maintenance equipment is replenished and that service dates are up to date.

Working Hours

The role is generally Monday to Friday, with approximately 40–45 hours available per week. Some teams are currently working up to 50 hours depending on operational requirements.

Core hours are typically around 7:30am to 5:00pm Monday to Thursday, with an earlier finish on Friday. There may also be an option to work across four days, although this would involve slightly fewer hours.

Some flexibility may be available, and shift patterns may occasionally be required to meet operational demands.

What We’re Looking For

*

Previous experience as an Aircraft Fitter or Aircraft Sheet Metal Worker.

*

Experience in aircraft structural repair or aircraft maintenance.

*

Ability to work safely and follow technical standards and procedures.

*

A good understanding of risk assessments and safe working practices.

*

A practical approach to working in both workshop and hangar environments.

*

Ability to work effectively as part of a maintenance team.
