Rate: £27.32 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract Length: 18 Months
IR35 Status: Inside IR35
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 07:00 - 15:30
Overtime: Available
The Opportunity
We are seeking experienced Electrical Wirers to support a major rolling stock maintenance programme in Bristol.
Working within a heavy maintenance environment, you will be responsible for fault finding, wiring modifications, installations and electrical repairs on low-voltage vehicle systems. You will work from engineering drawings and Vehicle Maintenance Instructions (VMIs) to complete electrical work safely and to the required quality standards.
This role would suit candidates with previous experience as an Electrical Wirer, Panel Wirer, Vehicle Electrician, Electrical Fitter or Rolling Stock Technician who are comfortable working on safety-critical equipment and electrical assemblies.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out wiring, installation and modification work on low-voltage electrical systems.
Undertake electrical fault finding and diagnostics.
Install, terminate and route cables.
Complete cable glanding and crimping activities to engineering standards.
Identify, label and verify electrical circuits and components.
Assemble and wire control boxes and electrical equipment.
Work on systems including:
Control boxes
Heating systems
Brake control equipment
Read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring schematics and VMIs.
Carry out testing and verification activities as required.
Ensure all work is completed in line with quality and safety procedures.
Support heavy maintenance and refurbishment activities across rolling stock vehicles.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
Previous experience as an Electrical Wirer, Panel Wirer, Electrical Fitter or similar.
Proven electrical fault-finding experience.
Experience carrying out:
Wiring
Glanding
Crimping
Cable routing
Identification and labelling of electrical systems
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and wiring diagrams.
Experience working from Vehicle Maintenance Instructions (VMIs) or similar technical documentation.
Strong understanding of low-voltage electrical systems.
Ability to work safely and accurately in a production or maintenance environment.
Desirable
Rolling stock or rail industry experience.
Experience working on vehicle electrical systems.
Background in panel wiring or electrical assembly.
Knowledge of brake control systems and electrical heating systems.
NVQ Level 3, Apprenticeship, City & Guilds or equivalent electrical qualification.
