Site Manager (Freelance)

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Freelance Site Manager to join a major commercial fit-out project in Manchester City Centre.
This is an excellent opportunity to oversee a high-profile workplace fit-out scheme valued at approximately £5 million, working with a well-respected commercial interiors contractor on a long-term contract lasting around 40 weeks.
The Role
As Site Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of site operations, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on programme and to the highest quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing all on-site activities throughout the fit-out programme
Maintaining and enforcing site Health & Safety procedures
Reviewing and implementing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
Coordinating subcontractors and site logistics
Monitoring programme milestones and project progress
Conducting site inspections and quality checks
Resolving site issues proactively to minimise delays
Maintaining accurate site records and documentation
Ensuring works are completed in line with project specifications and client expectations
Essential Requirements
To be considered, candidates must have:
Proven experience as a Site Manager within commercial fit-out, workplace interiors or refurbishment projects
Experience delivering projects valued at £4 million+
Experience working on projects with programmes of approximately 40 weeks
Strong Health & Safety management experience
Excellent organisational and communication skills
A proactive approach with strong problem-solving abilities
Be based in or within commuting distance of Manchester
Mandatory Qualifications
SMSTS
First Aid at Work
CSCS Gold or Black Card
Ideal Background
We are particularly interested in Site Managers who have worked for recognised commercial interiors, fit-out or refurbishment contractors such as:
Claremont Group Interiors
The TSK Group
ADT Workplace
Medlock FRB
Overbury
Ardmac
Candidates with experience delivering large-scale office, workplace and commercial interior fit-out schemes will be highly regarded.
Please note: This role is not suitable for candidates whose background is primarily within new build housing developments.

Rate: £250 per day
Duration: 40 Weeks
Start Date: Week Commencing 12th October 2026
Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:30am to 4:30pm
