Role Summary
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Accommodation Options Officer to join a busy local authority housing team in East London on an initial 3-month contract.
The successful candidate will play a key role in preventing homelessness, supporting residents with a history of rough sleeping and facilitating moves into sustainable private rented sector accommodation.
What You Will Do as an Accommodation Options Officer
·Work with residents with a history of rough sleeping to facilitate move-on from supported accommodation into suitable private rented sector housing.
·Deliver proactive homelessness prevention services, including negotiating with landlords, sustaining tenancies and identifying alternative housing solutions for households at risk.
·Assess household circumstances, affordability, support needs and accommodation suitability in accordance with Part VII of the Housing Act 1996.
·Arrange and coordinate emergency and temporary accommodation placements, ensuring properties are suitable and statutory housing duties are met.
·Work closely with landlords, accommodation providers, internal teams and external support agencies to secure sustainable housing solutions, reduce reliance on temporary accommodation and support successful tenancy transitions.
What You Will Need as an Accommodation Options Officer
·Previous experience working in homelessness prevention, housing options, temporary accommodation or private rented sector move-on services.
·Experience supporting households affected by homelessness or rough sleeping, with a strong understanding of the causes of rough sleeping and barriers to securing accommodation.
·Good working knowledge of Part VII of the Housing Act 1996, including statutory homelessness duties and accommodation suitability assessments.
·Experience securing private rented sector accommodation, negotiating with landlords and identifying affordable, sustainable housing options.
·Strong case management, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex cases and work collaboratively with vulnerable residents and partner agencies.
What's on Offer
·£31.07 per hour (Inside IR35) - competitive contract rate.
·Initial 3-month contract with potential for extension, subject to service requirements.
·36 hours per week, with hybrid working arrangements requiring 2 days per week in the office.
