Cover Supervisor - Wigan
Immediate Start | Flexible Supply | £120-£160 per day
We are currently recruiting for a reliable and confident Cover Supervisor to join a welcoming secondary school in Wigan, with an immediate start available.
The school is looking for someone who is keen to fully commit to the school on a flexible supply basis and become a familiar, trusted face for their pupils. Hours may vary from week to week depending on the school's needs - during busy periods, this could be full-time Monday-Friday, while quieter weeks may involve fewer days or part-day/half-day cover.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys building strong relationships within a school and is happy to be flexible when additional cover is required.
The Role
Providing classroom cover for absent teachers across KS3 and KS4
Delivering pre-set work and ensuring pupils remain focused and on task
Maintaining a calm, positive and well-managed classroom environment
Supporting pupils with SEN and challenging behaviour
Managing behaviour confidently and consistently
Following school policies and procedures
Building positive relationships with pupils and becoming a familiar face within the school
Being flexible and willing to support with additional part-day or half-day cover where possible
The Ideal Candidate
The school is particularly interested in candidates who:
Have strong behaviour management skills
Are confident managing challenging behaviour and high-needs pupils
Have a calm, patient and consistent approach
Speak clear, confident English and can communicate instructions effectively
Are reliable, punctual and committed to providing regular cover
Are flexible and willing to work additional hours when required
Are looking to build a long-term relationship with the school rather than working occasional, one-off days
Have previous experience working in a secondary school, as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor or similar role
Requirements
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
Two professional references
Previous experience working with young people is desirable
Strong communication and behaviour management skills
